The Grizzlies’ victory was so decisive, it broke a record.

Yesterday, the Memphis Grizzlies took on the Oklahoma City Thunder on the Grizzlies’ home turf in Tennessee. No one is quite sure as to whether the Grizzlies were at the peak of their game or if the Thunder was at the bottom, but the match was a decisive shutout in the Grizzlies’ favor. At the end of the game, the score was 152-79 in the Grizzlies’ favor. Not only is this an impressive victory and personal point record for the Grizzlies, it’s also an NBA-wide record for widest point margin.

The previous point margin record was set back in 1991 in a 148-80 game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat, a 68 point difference. This new record beats out that one at a 73 point difference, five points higher than the record.

Grizzlies’ coach Taylor Jenkins couldn’t be more proud of his guys for this achievement. “Franchise records are obviously great and I’m proud of our guys that they don’t think about that,” Jenkins told reporters.

“We’re just motivated by our standards every single night and tonight that was on full display offensively and defensively.

“Records are records and records are meant to be broken. What motivates us every day is just playing our best basketball, and I think over the last three games we’ve done a great job of that.”

A major contributor to the victory and record was power forward Jaren Jackson Jr., who 27 points. Jackson Jr. was also happy for the win, though he kept his feelings a bit more reserved.

“Good win,” Jackson Jr. said. “We put it together, stuck to the game plan and stayed engaged the whole game. Credit to the coach and everybody hooping.

“Just another game, it goes in the left column,” he added.
