In 1985, Doctor Emmet Brown built a time machine out of a DeLorean, saying that if you’re going to do such a thing, you might as well do it with some style. This, of course, was an iconic moment from the film Back to the Future, the movie that single-handedly turned the DeLorean Motor Company from a defunct producer of weird sports cars into an enduring pop culture icon. Sadly, the DMC had already gone defunct by the time the movie came out, due to concerns with the car’s construction and fuel viability (Mister Fusion hadn’t been invented yet), so the cars became very rare collectibles.
