Deadpool & Wolverine Taking the Throne at the Box Office

In a box office showdown, Deadpool & Wolverine has reclaimed its No. 1 spot, even as new releases stumble.

Despite being in theaters for five weeks and facing a 39 percent drop in earnings, Deadpool & Wolverine led the box office with $18.3 million this weekend, according to Comscore. The film, featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, has now earned an impressive $577 million domestically and over $1.2 billion globally. It holds the record as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

In contrast, Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink Twice, opened in fourth place with a modest $7.3 million. The film, which stars Naomi Ackie and features a psychological thriller plot, has yet to make a significant impact.

Meanwhile, the horror remake The Crow came in eighth place with a disappointing $4.6 million. Despite high expectations, the film struggled to attract a large audience.

Last week’s top film, Alien: Romulus, fell to second place but still performed well, adding $16.2 million to its domestic total. The latest installment in the Alien franchise has brought in $72.6 million domestically and $225.4 million globally.

Just below Romulus, Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us continued to perform steadily, earning $11.8 million in its third week of release.

As the summer movie season progresses, Deadpool & Wolverine remains the film to beat, while new releases face an uphill battle to capture audiences’ attention.
