Dave Chappelle Brings Elon Musk Onstage During Standup Show
Musk was met with both applause and boos from the crowd.
On Sunday night, prominent (and increasingly controversial) standup comedian Dave Chappelle brought a special guest onstage during his latest standup performance at Punchline Comedy Club event at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle said, before welcoming to the stage prominent billionaire and new owner of Twitter, Elon Musk. Musk’s appearance was met with some cheering and applause from the audience, but also a notably large amount of boos and jeers.
“You weren’t expecting this, were you?” Musk asked Chappelle.
“It sounds like some of those people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle responded.
Later on, Chappelle joked that, “All these people that are booing, I’m just pointing out the obvious — they have terrible seats in the stadium.”

According to a Twitter user named James Yu, who was present in person at the show, estimated that “A good 80% of the stadium boos. 18k people.”
“Dave gave him so many chances to speak but he just put his hands in his pockets,” Yu added.
“I actually felt bad for him. I’m by no means an Elon fanboy, more a centrist. I wanted to shake him: for the love of god man, say something and pretend it’s a tweet!!”
Following the show, Musk tweeted himself that “it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter). It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists… but nahhh.”
