Chris Kattan, the former Saturday Night Live star, recently opened up about his eerie experiences living in a haunted house once owned by actor Danny DeVito. Kattan shared his supernatural encounter on Rachel Dratch’s Woo Woo podcast, providing spine-chilling details about the Hollywood home.

Kattan, who describes himself as spiritual but not a believer in ghosts, admitted his skepticism was challenged upon moving into the 102-year-old property. “It was a really nice house, and the previous owner was Danny DeVito,” he said, humorously noting, “So the bathroom sink was much lower. So I had to change that.”

The seemingly minor inconvenience of a low sink soon paled in comparison to the unsettling occurrences Kattan began to notice. “There were always little hints of things that I didn’t buy into that people warned me of,” he recalled. “For example, certain rooms were very cold… And then it would change. It felt like a breeze would come in, but there wasn’t an open window, or there wasn’t any way for air to get in.”

Kattan also mentioned flickering lights that persisted despite changing bulbs and rewiring the fixtures. The strange phenomena didn’t stop there. He described hearing “whispering” at night, which added to the eerie atmosphere.

The most startling revelation came when a friend claimed to see a ghost. “I had someone say that they saw in the living room, out the corner of their eye, they said they saw an old woman in a rocking chair doing crochet,” Kattan recounted. “They swore they saw one. And they were like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I was like, ‘What’s going on?’”

Although Kattan never saw the ghostly figure himself, he was told the apparition “was very nice” and “looked like she was smiling.” The eerie encounter was further corroborated months later when another individual reported seeing “a woman in a rocking chair” in the same spot. A spiritually-attuned friend later warned Kattan that his staircase served as a “portal” for ghosts.

Concerned friends urged Kattan to leave the house, citing their own discomfort with the property. He eventually sold the home in 2014. However, the hauntings didn’t end with his departure. Kattan was surprised to learn from his real estate agent that the new owners had quickly moved out, citing the house’s haunted nature.

Kattan’s spooky experiences and his decision to leave the haunted house can be heard in full on Rachel Dratch’s Woo Woo podcast.
