Chris Farley’s Hilarious Bathroom Challenge Left Ike Barinholtz Crying with Laughter

Meeting your idol is a big deal. Some people get a handshake, some get an autograph—but Ike Barinholtz? He got an invitation to “play swords” while peeing next to comedy legend Chris Farley.
The Mindy Project star recently shared the hilarious story on David Spade and Dana Carvey’s Fly on the Wall podcast, and let’s just say, it’s one for the books.
Before Barinholtz was making people laugh on TV, he was a young comedy hopeful working as a busboy at Chicago’s famous Second City theater. That’s where he occasionally crossed paths with Farley, who was as friendly as he was unpredictable.
“He was always so nice,” Barinholtz recalled. “Midwest, Wisconsin nice.” In other words—super friendly, like a neighbor who insists you take home leftovers.
One night, Farley needed help finding his brother Johnny, who was at a party nearby. Barinholtz, eager to assist (and, let’s be honest, spend more time with his hero), quickly agreed. With the help of his high school buddy Brian, they set off on what would become an unforgettable adventure.
As they walked under Chicago’s L train tracks, Farley suddenly blurted out, “I gotta pee, I gotta pee!”
Barinholtz, not wanting to miss a moment to bond with the Tommy Boy star, chimed in, “I gotta pee too!” And so, side by side, they did what guys do.
Then, out of nowhere, Farley turned to Barinholtz with a mischievous grin and said:
“You wanna play swords?”
Now, when Chris Farley asks you to play swords, you don’t say no. So Barinholtz, fully committed to the bit (and probably trying not to laugh too hard), played along.
But this wasn’t just any friendly bathroom challenge—Farley had a trick up his sleeve. As their, um, streams crossed, he suddenly turned and peed right on Barinholtz’s foot.
“I cut your foot off!” Farley declared, as if he had just won a great medieval duel.
Barinholtz was laughing so hard, he could barely stand.
“I couldn’t metabolize,” he said, describing the kind of laughter that takes over your entire body.
Getting pranked by Chris Farley might not be what Barinholtz expected, but let’s be honest—it’s a way better story than just getting an autograph.
When David Spade, who knew Farley better than almost anyone, was asked if this was normal behavior, he didn’t hesitate.
“Story checks out,” Spade said. “Yes, that sounds like classic buffoonery.”
And just like that, Ike Barinholtz earned himself a place in the legendary world of Chris Farley stories—one laugh, one pee break, and one wet shoe at a time.
