Armstrong expressed anger over the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

Last week’s major ruling by the United States Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, ending Constitutionally-supported rights to seek and receive abortion care, has been met with severe blowback from the public. Protests have sprung up all over the country, many of which have condemned the court Justices for going against the wishes of the majority of the country and eliminating an important medical safeguard.

Many performers and celebrities have also been taking sides on the matter, with one in particular deciding he’s done with America entirely. Over the weekend, Green Day frontman and singer Billie Joe Armstrong announced during a performance at London Stadium, part of the band’s Hella Mega tour, that he’s renouncing his US citizenship over the Roe v. Wade ruling.

“F**k America. I’m f***king renouncing my citizenship. I’m f**king coming here,” he told the crowd.

He added that there is “too much f**king stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f**king excuse for a country.” He also noted to the crowd that “You’re going to get a lot more of me in the coming days.”

Armstrong joins several other prominent performers in condemning the Supreme Court, including Phoebe Bridgers, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar and Olivia Rodrigo. All of these performers appeared at the Glastonbury Festival, making their stance on the matter clear with chants of “F**k the Supreme Court.”
