Bauer was released from the team not long after being assigned.

Last month, the Los Angeles Dodgers assigned their new starting pitcher, Trevor Bauer. However, less than a week after this happened, Bauer was suddenly released from the team with little-to-no explanation.

This week, the owners of the Dodgers, including president and CEO Stan Kasten, president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, general manager Brandon Gomes, and executive vice president Lon Rosen spoke at a press conference to defend their decision to release Bauer, though for confidentiality reasons, the precise reasons were not shared.

“I’m not going to get into contradicting or agreeing with anything about what was supposed to be a private conversation,” Kasten said when asked about a claim from Bauer that the time had invited him to pitch. “I’ll just say within a very short time we came back and made our decision. I think that speaks for itself.”

“I don’t want to talk about what went on, what was discussed, what wasn’t discussed or who was there,” Kasten continued. “But we did hear from him. I thought it was the right thing to do. I’m happy that we did it, along with everything else that we did, to reach the best decision that we could. I stand by our decision. I’m very comfortable with it.”

Bauer has been a controversial player for several years, having been benched back in 2021 for unprofessional off-field conduct both online and in his personal life.
